Hi, I'm Isa
I began taking photographs at a young age. When I was in elementary school, my aunt would take me to the Huntington Library to eat brownies and look at historical art. At the age of 10, I was gifted my first Kodak camera. Almost every other year from the age of 10 to 16, she would buy me a new camera to play with, but inevitably it would break or I desperately wished for an upgrade. By my second year of college, I had graduated to a crop sensor Nikon DSLR and began photographing things in the world that caught my eye—a construction site, littered bottles on the ground… it was my way of slowing down my ever-moving thoughts and finding the beauty in the ordinary.
After 8 years of street photography and 3 years of being an in-house photographer for a streetwear brand, I decided to pursue my Masters’ in Studio Photography in Paris, France.
My work invites unconformity and individuality, while using aesthetic to build a narrative. By using distinct colors that play upon the themes of lightness and darkness, my photos suggest vibrancy in the mundane, and discovery in the established. Whether in the studio or outdoors, my primary goal is to capture subjects in an authentic and true way.

My email is info@igvd.me.
